Check your system manual regarding LBA support. The jumper between J23/J24 is a spare Jumper which could be used to set J22 (1024 x 16 x 63). Jumper J21 is factory reserved. Do not use. +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ | | J24 | J23 | J22 | J20 | | +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ |Cable Select | | | | | | |Disabled | O | | | |default| |Enabled | J | | | | | +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ |Write Cache | | | | | | |Enabled | | O | | |default| |Disabled | | J | | | | +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ |Default Parameters | | | | | | |for 7850AV only | | | | | | |1654 x 16 x 63 | | | O | | | |1024 x 16 x 63 | | | J | | | +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ |Master/Slave | | | | | | |Only Drive in System | | | | J |default| |Master | | | | J | | |Slave | | | | O | | +---------------------+-----+-----+-----+-----+-------+ ********************************************************************** I N S T A L L ********************************************************************** MAXTOR 7850AV/7425AV QUICK REFERENCE 11/94 Notes on installation ===================== Installation direction ---------------------- horizontally vertically +-----------------+ +--+ +--+ | | | +-----+ +-----+ | | | | | | | | | +-+-----------------+-+ | | | | | | +---------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +---------------------+ | +-----+ +-----+ | +-+-----------------+-+ +--+ +--+ | | | | +-----------------+ The drive will operate in all axis (6 directions). Installation Steps ================== - Switch off your System Power first! Disconnect the power plug. - Install a ribbon connector. The striped edge of this cable re- presents pin 1 and must be oriented towards pin 1 at the drive connector and the host connector. - If AT BIOS supports user programable parameters, program System BIOS with the default Parameters. otherwise choose a Type that closely matches, but do not exceed, the drives formatted capacity. - Secure the drive in a suitable drive bay with 6-32 X 1/4" screws. - The drive is now ready for partitioning and high-level formatting with any operating system. NOTE WPC and Landing Zone BIOS entries do not need a specific number for proper operation. (Ignored by the drive. Maxtor hard drives will override any numbers programmed.)
